The Real Deal on East Tennessee Politicians

This is the first of a multi-part series on the politicians representing the east Tennessee region. I’ve been asked why I’m taking such a harsh stance against the politicians in this area and my response is this:

I’m frustrated with the lack of leadership from our elected officials. PUBLIC OFFICE IS A PUBLIC TRUST. Many in the current crop of elected officials have failed to earn our trust.

I’m tired of being a responsible, hard working, tax-paying citizen with NO representation or voice. I’m tired of them insulting my intelligence by using debunked information, conspiracy theories, and flat out lies to divide us and prevent us from noticing that they are NOT working in our best interest. I’m extremely fed-up with the arrogance of our elected officials in thinking that THEY deserve anything less than being held ACCOUNTABLE and responsible. They’ve forgotten that THEY work for US. NOT the other way around. We are not here to be used as tools to further their personal agendas or to slave ourselves and our children out to their corporate masters for low wages and no benefits.  I am no longer going to sit back and watch the people in my town be exploited based on misinformation. And finally, I am tired of digging beneath the surface and finding that many of these self-proclaimed “Conservatives” are anything but. They align themselves with anti-government, anti-police, extremists and try to dumb down their constituency with fear, hate, false faith, and non-existent issues in order to distract and fleece them.

I’ve decided to take a closer look at my local representatives and those running against them to learn what each politician has done, or plans to do to better the lives of their constituents. For the past 6 years we’ve heard our elected officials continuously blame Washington D.C. for our troubles, but when I began the vetting process for the mid-term elections to decide who I’d be casting my ballots for, I found that ALMOST ALL of the problems we’re dealing with in my area are created by, or ignored by LOCAL or state level politicians.

My question is: What are they trying to distract us from and why?  I have come to the conclusion that when local politicians blame Washington, D.C. for a lack of progress, it almost always means that they’ve failed to do their job and need to divert attention away from their failures in order to be re-elected. They count on people being uneducated in the way local, state, and federal government works and take advantage of that ignorance. Additionally, these same politicians have purposely misled the citizens and conditioned them using fear, misinformation, and outright lies to be some of the most low-information, misinformed voters in the nation and while the people believe these predators are working for them, the VERIFIABLE FACTS show that they are actually working against their best interest and that of their families and friends.

Enough is enough, it’s time to educate the people of Cocke and surrounding counties so that they can make better choices when it comes to electing those that represent them.

Politicians who represent low-information, misinformed voters are the ones who need to be watched closest. There’s a reason why they want their constituency dumbed down. When others come along and point this out, these politicians instantly go on attack and will usually stop at nothing to discredit those who are exposing them.  My advice is to listen to what those exposing them have to say. There is ALWAYS truth in it. ALWAYS.

I’m starting my series in Cocke County, my hometown.  First on the list is…

Jeremy FaisonJeremy Faison (R) District 11 Representative
